I Agree With Dr. Dean
Dr. Howard Dean, former governor of Vermont, former presidential candidate and past head of the Democratic National Committee has changed his mind about the righteousness of the US effort in Afghanistan.
This report by Aljazeera puts the exclamation point at the end of that statement by Dr. Dean.
Some 540 members of the Taliban including military commanders have escaped from Kandahar prison via a 320 metre-long tunnel, Afghan government officials have confirmed to Al Jazeera.
A Taliban official on Monday also confirmed the overnight escape, boasting that the prison break had been “very well-planned” and that it was five months in the making, Al Jazeera’s Qais Azimy, reporting from Kabul, said.
According to a Taliban statement, the tunnel was not dug by the inmates but by fighters outside the prison.
320 metres is about 1,050 feet. A mighty long tunnel. Took 5 months. And what were any authorities doing during that period? Did no one ever conceive of the idea that their buddies on the outside the wire were planning a little help?
