April 23, 1940 – Captive Jews at Stutthof, Poland, are forced to leap into open latrines;  many are drowned or beaten to death.

April 23, 1945 – The concentrationcamp at Flossenburg, Germany is liberatedby the U.S. Army;  2000 inmates remain alive.  The SS evacuates the concentration camp at Ravensbruck, Germany.
