This Is Totally Dishonest

RawStory has this report up.  And President Obama said this:

“The publication of these photos would not add any additional benefits to our understanding of what was carried out in the past by a small number of individuals,” President Obama said in May after reversing his promise to have the images released.

The rest of the world knows what went on there.  The administration just wants to keep the sheep American public in the dark.  Where is the transparency that Candidate Obama promised?  There are several FOIA cases winding their way through the federal court system and in every one of them, the Bush Obama administration has taken the same position as the Cheney Bush administration.

Playing ostrich and burying our collective heads in the sand (ostrichs really do NOT bury their heads, so I don’t want to dis the ostrich), only lowers our standing in the rest of the world and leaves our officials and tourists overseas vulnerable to the whim of foreign governments.  Think the two female journalists in North Korea and the four folks that Iran is holding.

If the sheep, I’m sorry, American public stays in the dark on this it will make Democratic candidates, in general, and President Obama, in particular, easier to re-elect.
