It’ll Never Happen – Here.

I respectfully, yet vehemently, disagree with President Obama on the concept of “looking forward, not backward” when it comes to the U.S. Constitution and accountability.  Now from South America comes this news

Washington, DC, March 30, 2010 – For the first time in Latin America, a judge has sent a former head of state to prison for the crime of an “Attack against the Constitution.” In an unprecedented ruling last month in Montevideo, former Uruguayan President Juan María Bordaberry was sentenced to serve 30 years for undermining Uruguay’s constitution through an auto-coup in June 1973, and for his responsibility in nine disappearances and two political assassinations committed by the security forces while he was president between 1972 and 1976.

The person left office 34 years ago and he is finally going to pay for his crimes.  The “Bush/Cheney Constitution Shredding Cabel” has only been out of office fourteen and one-half months and, yet, there is no one in a position of power or authority that is willing to hold anyone of that group accountable.

This is surely a sad commentary on the “rule of law.”
