Admittedly.  I am on the horns of a dilemma.  Did the amount of legislation that passed in the 26-day Lame Duck session of Congress give POTUS enough ‘credit’ to make up for all the many disappointments of the previous 23 months?

I do not know yet.

START Treaty, First Responders, DADT-repeal – very important.

Gitmo closing – n0 and Dawn Johnson (and lack of investigation of Bush Admin crimes)  –  Huge disappointment.

The jury is still out on this one.

I keep asking people, but nobody seems to have any facts on the matter – Why credit Obama for anything that Congress has recently done?

From what I’ve seen, he’s largely stayed out of the recent legislation, with the exception of the tax bill – which you likely hate.

In our current 24/7 “news” cycle, even if Obama had been quietly meeting with people and working on these things, I would think we’d have heard about it.

So why credit – or blame him, if you dislike the legislation?

My ‘beef’ with POTUS is that he appears to be timid. His dealings with the Repubs appear to begin at the center and move to the right.

My understanding of the way Wash DC works is that POTUS and his staff can work at great lengths behind the scenes, quietly, letting Congress get the credit.

POTUS does have the bully pulpit, which I do not believe he has used very effectively.

Normally I would agree with you about the POTUS being able to work behind the scenes but our current media frenzy seems to make that impossible.

Therefor I’m left questioning whether Obama should get credit or blame for anything that gets passed by Congress – tax bill aside.
