Emotion vs Facts
For the last two evenings, those of us who watched the Democratic National Convention were treated to two very powerful speakers laying out the reasons why President Barack Obama should be re-elected.
On Tuesday, First Lady Michell Obama gave a highly-charged, emotional speech about how she has watched her husband, the President, grapple with the results of the economic melt-down that he was left by his predecessor.
On Wednesday. President Bill Clinton gave a stem-winder of a speech that was highly factual. It was the perfect counter-point to the First Lady’s speech.
Bill Clinton had two lines near the beginning of the speech that I particularly like
I want to nominate a man cool on the outside but burning for America on the inside. A man who believes we can build a new American Dream economy driven by innovation and creativity, education and cooperation. A man who had the good sense to marry Michelle Obama.
. . .
We think “we’re all in this together” is a better philosophy than “you’re on your own.”
Ohio has early voting beginning on 30 Sept this year (if the Sec of State leaves well enough alone) and I plan to vote on Monday 1 Oct for President Barack Obama, of course. Four. More. Years.
