The Future

In My Opinion, the only way the USA could even have a chance to return to the prosperity of the 1960s, is with a Democrat as POTUS and a Congress that has a Democrat majority in each house.

Up until the late 1970s the USA had a marginal income tax rate of 70% or higher (91% in 1961).  The USA had a growing middle class with even the lower middle class enjoying substantial prosperity.

There are many things that, together, are causing the “poor-class” to expand.  The shrinking unions, the jobs shipped overseas, the fact the even with a high school diploma, graduates do not have the skills to get a job that will get them to the middle class.

A Romney administration will rake the USA back to the Dark Ages.  And business will suffer because there will not be enough disposable income to buy all the toys and gadgets that end in full employment.

A lot of infrastructure needs fixed or upgraded and the only way to do it is to raise taxes on the “wealthy class.”  They do not need that 10th or 20th million to buy groceries.  We need to double the top marginal tax rate so we don’t have to borrow from China.

Agree with you 100%. We can’t make this country better as long as Congressional Republicans are being held hostage by the Grover Norquist “no higher taxes” pledge. The fact that these legislators would rather serve him than their constituents speaks volumes about how misplaced their loyalties are right now.
