I am a Progressive, a Liberal. I worked for and voted for Barack Obama in 2008 and in 2012.
But to say that I am disappointed in him would be a gross understatement.
When ever he addresses us in front of TV cameras, he begins by saying ‘we’ need to get a handle on the increase in entitlements. That has to be a Republican talking.
We need to get a handle on (decrease) the unemployment rate. We need to create jobs by such as repairing roads and bridges.
The President said on 2 Jan 2013 that we did not raise taxes on the middle class. Yet the 2% payroll tax was allowed to expire. Workers will see a decrease in take home pay.
The Budget Control Act of 2011 (Pub.L. 112-25, S. 365, 125 Stat. 240, enacted August 2, 2011) is a federal statute in the United States that was signed into law by PresidentBarack Obama on August 2, 2011. The Act brought conclusion to the 2011 United States debt-ceiling crisis, which had threatened to lead the United States into sovereign default on or about August 3, 2011.
from the summer of 2011 and the American Tax Relief Act, (Wikipedia does not have a link up yet), passed on 2 Jan 2013 will give us fiscal consolidation of about 1.9% of GDP. That is a European level of Austerity.
This is a horrible piece of legislation and it is only that way because a Republican (Obama) gave away the whole program to the TeaParty.
I said it here a few days ago. I realize that I am not the sharpest pencil in the box, but even I know you do not begin negotiations at the opponents minimum position.
When it comes to ‘entitlements,’ I paid into each of the streams that the Republicans want to kill. When I joined the Navy, I was told that, “Yes the pay is low” but if I stayed for 20 or more years, I would receive a check each month for the rest of my life. I did NOTHING to violate that agreement. I do not have any money in the Cayman Islands or in Bermuda. I earned every penny of the check I get each month with the 35 months of combat time I accrued defending the Stars and Stripes.
I paid into the Social Security Trust Fund for my whole working life, from the time I was a bag boy at Tedeschi’s Supermarket as a 15 year old until I retired from the work force when I reached age 62. What I receive from SS is not an entitlement. It is what is due me. I earned it.
This guy hasn’t even started his second term and he is already selling us out.
